I should add that the accomodation is in a great building. I went to see it recently, it is a Swiss style holiday cottage with numerous bedrooms sat in the middle of the woods. From the balcony you can see the Tor and the surrounding woods. It should be very quiet and secluded. We will be sleeping and eating in the same building as we train in and have sole use so privacy is guaranteed.

For those who want to come, you should make sure you get directions from admin at LNG or you will most likely get lost!

Would this course be within the reach of an absolute beginner like that guy who showed up at the Yang course masquerading as me?

That's fine if you can put up with more of Damos lectures and my cooking.....

Seriously, Damo is presuming that most people coming will not have much experience in Internal Alchemy - the main criteria is a desire to learn.
(maybe dressing up as Shakespeare should be mandatory)

OK, I am going to do this vegetarian thing in the run up to February 20th. Does vegetarian (for the purposes of this course) mean no fish?

I have always assumed that fish aren't vegetables! But, seriously, it would be handy to know where to draw the line - are we allowed cheese, milk et.c? What about soya protein and quorn (myco protein)? I assume that it is something to do with being easily digested.

Coffee is proving to be a problem for me. Ater a week or so of headaches from caffeine withdrawal, I'm now on de-caff and trying to cut down on that. Barley cup is a reasonable alternative to coffee.

I enjoy hot fruit juices, with spices when it's cold, and real green tea so I hope that they are OK. Not keen on the herb teas though, they taste so similar.

I'm sure that this'll all be worthwhile in the end!

The no sex makes sense because we have to conserve essence, but what about meat. Is it the same reason, or is it something to do with meat upping your sex drive resulting in mental images of beyonce instead of buddha when your meditating?

Yeah, i agree with the sex thing about essence and all. I think fish is supposed to have "moist energy" or sumthin. also i dnt think meat is that good for yo intestines in general. bowel cancer is more common in peeps who have a lot of red meat, and ppl who eat a lot of fish like japanese peeps get more stomach cancer, in moderation both are ok tho. i dunno bout being vege for meditation.

Hi all!

I was wondering about how long you meditate every time you practise. I find it very difficult to hold the position for more than twenty minutes as I get pins and needles in my legs. Will there be very long periods of meditation in the course - I mean without pausing or stretching in between?

PS It's me, Etienne! Cool

Hello, Etienne.

Damo said this about pain this weekend: "its only pain". Does that help?

Someone told me if you lean forward a little bit, it helps. If it is any consolation, I think I am in your club!

I have been meditating for many years and didn't discover the way to make sitting pain free until last year. The answer is to practice stretching and opening the joints as often as you can.  Smiley Regular work on dao yins seems to open the joints and enable me to sit in relative comfort. I was quite surprised at the difference it made. Coping with the monkey mind however is another matter .................!  Huh
